Hays County Food Bank provides food at no cost to low-income households and those suffering from some sort of food emergency due to job loss, medical emergencies, disasters, etc. To receive assistance from Hays County Food Bank you must meet ONE of the following criteria: -Have a household income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level; OR -Participate in one of the following programs: Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Supplemental Security Income (SSI), National School Lunch Program (NSLP) (free or reduced-price meals), Medicaid; OR -Have a temporary food emergency, such as job loss, loss of sole provider, natural disaster, etc. (eligible for up to 6 months). Food is offered at the Client Choice Market, Food Distribution Sites, And Central Texas Food Bank Mobile Pantry. The Client Choice Market is by appointment only; appointments can be made in person at the location provided. Clients are offered one appointment per household per month, may attend Market once every 30 days, and may choose up to 80 pounds of food. Residents of Hays County (and some neighboring counties) may attend the public food distribution sites up to once a week. These are walk-up or drive-thru distributions, but a new client application is required and available in person. Please check their website for times and locations of these distribution sites.
