Peer Support Lead
General Description:
Austin Mental Health Community (AMHC) is seeking a Peer Support Lead to provide coordination, mentorship, and support for interns, volunteers, and peer facilitators. This role promotes growth, communication, and collaboration within the peer support team while upholding recovery-oriented and peer-driven values.
The Peer Support Lead will assist with onboarding and training, support program scheduling and daily operations, and work closely with the Program Director to strengthen the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of AMHC’s peer programs.
As AMHC continues to expand, the Peer Support Lead should be flexible, open-minded, and willing to contribute to the development and implementation of new initiatives, processes, and approaches that enhance program effectiveness and improve the participant experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Peer Support & Program Coordination
- Provide mentorship and one-on-one guidance to interns, volunteers, and peer facilitators to encourage growth, engagement, confidence, and skill development.
- Coordinate day-to-day schedules, calendars, and program flow for facilitators, interns, and volunteers based on the overall structure established by the Program Director.
- Assist with onboarding, training, and recruitment of new team members while ensuring alignment with AMHC’s peer-driven values and practices.
- Support the development and implementation of new tools, processes, and approaches in collaboration with the Program Director to improve program quality and peer support outcomes.
- Adapt to evolving program needs and support a culture of flexibility, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Participate in interviews with the Program Director for prospective interns and volunteers by providing feedback regarding strengths, fit, and potential areas for development.
Staff Supervision & Team Support
- Foster a supportive and collaborative team environment through regular check-ins, mentorship, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
- Observe peer groups and activities to support team development, identify strengths, and recognize opportunities for improvement.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to address performance concerns, provide additional support, and identify professional development opportunities.
- Serve as a first point of contact for minor challenges or conflicts, helping facilitate solutions and escalating concerns to the Program Director when appropriate.
- Encourage adaptability, communication, and teamwork as AMHC’s programs continue to grow and evolve.
Community Engagement & Partnerships
- Participate in regular virtual meetings with community partners and collaborating organizations to strengthen relationships and support peer-driven initiatives.
- Facilitate supervision meetings with interns, volunteers, and facilitators to encourage communication, accountability, and shared learning.
- Represent AMHC in community spaces and partnership activities while modeling professionalism and recovery-oriented values.
- Collaborate with the Program Director to identify, develop, and support new partnership opportunities.
Administrative & Program Support
- Maintain accurate records related to meetings, schedules, supervision notes, and program activities in alignment with AMHC standards.
- Assist the Program Director with data collection, reporting, and documentation of program outcomes and activities.
- Uphold confidentiality, ethical standards, and peer support values in all administrative responsibilities.
- Maintain and organize resources, guides, and best practices to support facilitators, interns, and volunteers.
