Volunteer Program

Learn to Help Others as You Help Yourself

The focus of our Volunteer program is to provide a recovery-oriented program for individuals to blossom and start to see self-worth, while being empowered to give back to the Austin MHC. We provide work readiness training in organizational skills, data entry, increasing stamina, filing and copying. Participants also develop the necessary skills and come to understand the responsibilities of becoming a Peer Mentor. Supervision will be given by a trained and certified Peer Supervisor in the state of Texas.

This program provides MHPS’s with peer support supervision with credentialed Peer Supervisors. An MHPS experience should be peer-supported, nurturing, engaging, informative, and hands-on experience. MHPS Supervisors will assist the person in getting 250 total supervised hours and provide weekly supervision meetings which can be provided face-to-face or via teleconference.
