Owning Our Journey is a 1.5-hour continuing education training for Peer Specialists and Peer Specialist Supervisors that explores the importance of self-awareness, authenticity, and intentional use of lived experience in peer support work. This training centers on how Peer Specialists can honor their own recovery journey while supporting others in ways that remain ethical, empowering, and recovery focused.
Participants will reflect on identity, growth, and boundaries in peer work, and explore how owning their story can strengthen hope, mutuality, and self-determination without overidentifying or shifting the focus away from the person being supported. Through discussion and practical examples, participants gain tools to stay grounded, confident, and aligned with peer values while navigating the complexities of peer roles.
