From Crisis to Connection is a continuing education training for Peer Specialists and Peer Specialist Supervisors that explores how to remain grounded, supportive, and recovery-oriented when supporting someone experiencing emotional distress, crisis, or overwhelming life circumstances. While Peer Specialists are not responsible for providing clinical intervention, they often play a critical role in creating connection, fostering hope, and helping individuals feel seen and heard during difficult moments.
This training examines how Peer Specialists can respond effectively when someone is struggling with intense emotions, hopelessness, anxiety, or other crisis-related experiences. Participants will explore strategies for building emotional safety, using grounding and de-escalation techniques, and maintaining a recovery-focused approach while honoring the limits of the peer role. Through discussion, reflection, and practical examples, participants will strengthen their ability to move beyond fear and uncertainty and create meaningful connection when it matters most.
