Recently, Austin Mental Health Community attended the 35th Annual Texas Council Conference from June 21 – 23, 2022 at the Omni Fort Worth Hotel – Fort Worth, TX. Over 700 people were there. With the help of Davina and Elliott, we were able to promote peer support services and attend some wonderful and exciting breakout sessions. Don was able to represent a new state peer support initiative called the Peer Network, and our own Executive Director, Shannon Carr, also presented on a panel entitled “Peer Recruitment and Retention” where she discussed the many ways peers can support within our local mental health centers and beyond.
