Mental Health Awareness Week 2022

Mental Health Awareness Week 2022 runs from October 2 to October 8. Two other special related events also happen during that week, and one occurs two days after its end. The first is the National Day of Prayer for Mental Illness Recovery and Understanding, occurring on Tuesday, October 4 while the second is National Depression Screening Day on October 6. World Mental Health Day is October 10. Let’s celebrate:

October 2nd: SUNDAY SPIRIT!

Enjoy the day and fill it with energy, enlightenment and togetherness, spend quality time with people or pets of your choosing

October 3rd: MONDAY MEDITATION

Meditation helps you relax the body and the mind. Even one minute of meditation in the middle of your day will help improve mental health wellness.

October 4th: TUESDAY TRIPS

Be a tourist in your own town. Often times people only explore attractions on trips, but you may be surprised what cool things are in your own backyard.

October 5th: WEDNESDAY REVELATION

“You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.” – Martin Luther King, Jr. Think of something in your life you want to improve, and figure out what you can do to take a step in the right direction.

October 6th: THURSDAY THOUGHTS

“What lies before us and what lies behind us are small matters compared to what lies within us. And when you bring what is within out into the world, miracles happen.” – Henry David Thoreau. Practice mindfulness by staying “in the present.”

October 7th: FRIDAY FORGIVENESS

Practice forgiveness – even if it’s just forgiving that person who cut you off during your commute. People who forgive have better mental health and report being more satisfied with their lives.

October 8th: SATURDAY SURPRISE

Challenge your brain by learning new skills and engaging in new activities. The positive and healthy stimulation will promote mental health wellness (learn five essential mental wellness activities).
