Language That Supports is a 1.5-hour continuing education training for Peer Specialists and Peer Specialists Supervisors that focuses on the intentional use of supportive, dignity-centered language in peer support. This training explores how communication grounded in empathy, respect, and partnership helps build trust, reduce stigma, and strengthen peer relationships.

Participants learn how to avoid judgmental or deficit-based language and instead emphasize understanding, strengths, and personal choice. Through discussion and practical examples, participants gain tools to communicate in ways that reinforce empowerment, self-determination, and compassion while supporting individuals on their unique recovery journeys.
