Peer Support Specialist

Elliott Phillip Niblack, MHPS, RSPS, ECSS is a Mental Health Peer Specialist, Recovery Support Peer Specialist, Empathetic Communication Systems Specialist with a focus on semiotics, and behavioral health education curriculum writer. As a person with lived experience with mental illness Mr. Niblack currently operates as a peer in the Crisis Peer Support program at Austin Mental Health Community, Chief Equity & Education Officer at The D. Wood Foundation, and Director of Reality By Design Consulting LLC.  He is the author of diversity, equity and inclusion curriculum, Educated Empathy, and co-author of the reentry from incarceration peer support curriculum, S.W.A.G (Strength. Wellness. Advocacy. Goals.) currently in use by the Travis County Sheriff’s Office. Before stepping into the behavioral health field, Mr. Niblack was a classroom teacher and school administrator for thirteen years in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and Austin, Texas school districts. As a staunch advocate for empathy, diversity, equity, and inclusion reform in behavioral health Mr. Niblack utilizes his experiences in a variety of public speaking roles including workshops and acting as co-host for the 2022 Central Texas African American Support Conference.
