SUMMARY:CoP: Peer Specialist – “The Power of Everyday Recovery”
DESCRIPTION:The Power of Everyday Recovery is a 1.5 hour continuing education training for Peer Specialists and Peer Specialist Supervisors that explores how recovery is often built through small, meaningful actions that support wellness, purpose, connection, and growth. While recovery is sometimes viewed through the lens of major milestones or significant achievements, lasting change is frequently shaped by everyday choices, routines, relationships, and moments of hope.\nThis training invites participants to examine how Peer Specialists can help individuals recognize progress, celebrate strengths, and build meaningful lives beyond symptom management or crisis prevention. Participants will explore the role of purpose, belonging, community, self-care, and personal growth in recovery and learn strategies for supporting others in identifying what recovery means to them. Through reflection, discussion, and practical examples, participants will gain tools to foster hope and highlight the often-overlooked victories that contribute to long-term recovery.\nLearning Objectives\nBy the end of this training, participants will be able to:\n\nDescribe recovery as an ongoing process that extends beyond symptom reduction and crisis management.\nRecognize the role of daily routines, relationships, purpose, and community in supporting recovery.\nIdentify ways to help individuals recognize and celebrate meaningful progress.\nApply strengths-based approaches that highlight resilience, growth, and possibility.\nSupport individuals in defining and pursuing recovery goals that reflect their own values and aspirations.\n\n
