This introductory course was initially designed for people living with mental health issues but has since been found to be equally effective for others including people living with a history of substance abuse, problematic behaviors or any life challenge for which improvement is desired. This training session fulfills the prerequisite for the WRAP® Seminar II: WRAP Facilitator Training.
- Participants are guided through the process of creating their own WRAP through the identification of personal wellness tools.
- Learners are introduced to recovery concepts and taught practical ways to incorporate them in daily life.
- Learners are taught to identify their personal triggers, early warning signs and develop action plans to reduce or avoid escalation.
- Learners develop a crisis plan and post crisis plan.
- Learners who complete WRAP Seminar I are authorized to facilitate one-on-one WRAP sessions.
Amy has been working in the Peer Movement in the State of Texas for almost two decades. She most recently was the C.E.O of Resiliency Unleashed an international training and consulting company focusing on the development and implementation of peer services. She has extensive experience in the peer support sector. She previously started the first peer support program in the state hospitals in Texas, was a peer support worker in a community mental health agency and was also the Program Coordinator for a transitional peer residential housing project funded through the 1115 waiver program. Amy is a peer, and family member, with both mental health and addictions experience. She is a certified peer specialist facilitator, Advanced Level Wrap facilitator, ASIST trainer, WHAM facilitator. Amy was previously Chair of the PAIMI Council in Texas and on the US National Disability Rights Board. Amy is a lover of life and all that is possible for human beings.
Carolyn Marsalis has worked in the counseling, training, and coaching fields for over 25 years. She holds a master’s degree in education, counseling, and human development (coursework included a minor in addiction studies). Carolyn is a Certified Holistic Health Coach, a SoulCollage® Facilitator, a WRAP® Facilitator, an author, and an international speaker. In January 2019, she obtained her master’s certificate in transpersonal/transformational coaching and is in the process of obtaining her certification through the International Coaching Federation. In recent years, Carolyn has facilitated programs designed to assist people recovering from mental distress/illness/addiction in returning to full participation in their lives. She has developed a coaching program utilizing a blend of dietary modification, coaching sessions, movement, and SoulCollage® to personalize coaching programs for her clients.
